The Story Behind BakBak

India is a melting pot of languages—22 official ones and countless dialects! Yet, there aren’t many engaging ways to learn Indian languages beyond textbooks or dull apps. This platform blends language learning with social interaction, enabling users to connect, converse, and immerse themselves in Indian languages.

THE PROBLEM

Arre Yaar, How Do I Say That?

Despite India's rich linguistic diversity, there is a lack of accessible platforms dedicated to learning Indian languages, leaving linguaphiles, travelers, and cultural enthusiasts without engaging, conversational, and culturally immersive tools.

Chai Pe Charcha!

Carried out 15 semi-structured Interviews with linguaphiles and few college students (ones shifted to new state). Additionally, the Fly on the Wall approach was utilized to observe their behavior and google form was circulated which received 32 responses.

Most learners showed greater interest in conversational fluency rather than structured grammar lessons.

“I’ve always wanted to learn Marathi, but I don’t know where to start—it feels overwhelming without guidance.”
